Worldcolor Logistics’ (WCL) product tracking system links plant manufacturing and inventory to its consolidation facilities. With all major production facilities, WCL operations and consolidation facilities operating on a single integrated system, WCL can virtually "see" the production, loading and shipping of pallets through each facility. Each pallet is assigned a unique bar code and tracked to the final destination. All facilities use full RF bar coding to achieve transparency. As product is ready to be shipped, critical skid-level tracking information is relayed from the plant to WCL and WCL then monitors delivery and performance. WCL acts as the "watchdog" for your product, shipping from both WC and non-WC facilities.
Postal Processing and Delivery Solutions
WCL offers four postal processing and delivery tracking programs. Customers can chose to utilize one or a combination of any of the following programs:
These four programs, combined with WCL's internal pallet bar code tracking, enable us to electronically track our customers' mail from the time a pallet is created in the bindery up to the point when the USPS carrier is ready to deliver the mail.
TracNet
Web based technology that pulls LIVE reports anytime. Download critical data in multiple formats and integrate into just about ANY system. WorldTrac, PLANET Code, and Seed data now linked into one web-based report providing access to your shipments when YOU need them!

Seedtrack
WCL has a master seed list of over 2,000 names. Customers can select from 120 to 2,000 seeds and WCL can customize the seed list based on the customer’s mailing list. WCL updates the seed list on a quarterly basis at minimum and pays the seeds, which makes it a much more reliable program than any other in the industry.
The seeds report via telephone or the Internet the day the mail piece arrives to confirm the in-home delivery date and condition of the mail piece. The reporting is accessed via web or e-mail. Since most customers use 120 – 200 seeds, seeding is a very economical way to track mail.

Performance Plus
WCL calls the actual USPS Destination Delivery Units, the local post offices where the carriers sort and pick up their mail, and ask a series of questions to determine: (1) if the mail arrived to the DDU and if so, (2) when it will be or was delivered to the customer. WCL can call anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand postal facilities. This process not only provides feedback on a mailing, but it also makes the USPS aware that the customer is tracking the mail, which usually results in better in-home delivery performance.

PLANET™ Code/CONFIRM®
WCL leads the catalog industry in utilizing the USPS CONFIRM® program. To date, WCL has PLANET™ bar coded over 250 million catalogs and direct mail pieces. By utilizing a second POSTNET-type bar code on the mail piece, WCL can track hundreds of thousands, or even millions of pieces in a mailing. When a piece of mail is processed on a letter or flat sorter, the USPS captures the date, time and location where the piece of mail was processed. This is the final step before the mail is sent off to the Destination Delivery Unit for carrier delivery. Since this program does not depend on human response, the data is more accurate than seeding and Performance Plus, and the volume of data makes it a more statistically valid tracking method. Although the PLANET™ code scan does not confirm when the mail piece was delivered to the mailbox, we can accurately project in-home delivery based on the day of the final scan.
Customers need not worry that they will be overwhelmed with hundreds of thousands of records that they need to piece together to determine the status of a mailing. WCL provides a variety of reports in a Web-based system that summarizes the data into customer-friendly reports and because there is so much data compared to Seedtrack and Performance Plus, we have a far more accurate read on the mailing.
Since the USPS transmits a record that contains both the PLANET™ and POSTNET bar code, WCL can track the mail at a variety of levels including: a summary of the entire mailing, by state, by postal facility, by 3-digit zip code, by 5-digit zip code and even down to a house level. The data is captured and transmitted a minimum of three times per day so customers can get an accurate measurement of how a mailing is being processed. And since the data is captured before actual in-home delivery, the customer has time to react to potential early or late delivery.
