WCL Co-mail Capabilities
Express Collation Mailing System (sm)
Co-palletization vs. Co-mailing

WCL Co-mail Capabilities

Short-Run Magazines: WCL’s short-run co-mailing operation, known as the Express Collation Mailing System(sm), is based in our Bolingbrook, IL facility, in addition to WCL’s Chicago consolidation operations. This co-mail and distribution hub offers four co-mail machines, three of which possess 30 pockets, the other with 24, and advanced inkjet and label application capabilities. If you are a short-run Periodical publisher interested in co-mailing, contact Joel Weber, Vice President - Business Development, Mailing Services, at (630)343-4628.

Long-Run Magazines: WCL has 19 years of proven success co-mailing and polywrapping medium and long-run magazine titles. WCL maintains two 30-pocket co-mailers offering weekly pools at our Somerset, NJ facility. If you are a long-run Periodical publisher that is interested in co-mailing, contact Ted Russell, Director of Business Development, at (212)583-6573.

Catalogs: Any Worldcolor print production plant with selective binding capability can offer co-mailing to its qualifying catalog customers. WCL can enhance the catalog co-mailing process through consolidation, dropshipping, presort services and more. If you are a cataloger interested in co-mailing, contact your print sales representative or Joel Weber, Vice President - Business Development, Mailing Services, at (630)343-4628.

What makes WCL’s Express Collation Mailing System(sm) so different from other co-mail operations in the industry?

WCL’s co-mail program specifically targets short and medium-run publishers. While Worldcolor does offer co-mail capabilities for its long-run and catalog titles, WCL’s Express Collation Mailing System(sm) only accepts publications and supplementals with a circulation from 5,000 to 150,000 copies.

WCL is the only one in the industry to offer simultaneous, dynamic multi-origin co-mailing and nationwide distribution specifically to the short-run publishing market. Unlike other networks, publishers need not adjust their scheduling just to enter one of our co-mail pools. They can jump in at any cycle, beginning with the geographic region running at the time of their entrance into the pool. Plus, WCL’s Express Collation Mailing System(sm) includes its dynamic entry program with full utilization of WCL's five consolidation centers and expediting program to get the mail to over 250 USPS entry points at no additional charge.

What is the difference between co-palletization and co-mailing?

Co-palletization consolidates the physical bundles of mail, which have already been addressed and presorted, onto pallets in order to create more hub and ADC eligible pallets. Co-mail, on the other hand, combines individual pieces of mail into new, better presorted bundles and has a huge impact on presort and dropship eligible pallets. So, co-palletization does not change the publication's presort qualification or package make-up. Co-mail does because each title's file is merged with other participants' files and the entire "pool" is presorted into qualifying packages as a larger mailing.

Most importantly, the savings generated through co-palletization are achieved simply by getting the mail out of sacks and onto pallets. With co-mail, additional savings are generated by increasing the quantity of high discount packages. Therefore, savings can be as high as 16.2 cents per piece!
